I was raised in a loving, big, family who have always respected me and my privacy. I have been taught from a very young age that I must always be respectful, polite and kind to others. I have been doing this since the moment this was taught to me. I do this, because one, it’s what my parents want from me, and secondly, because I believe it’s the right thing to do. However, there are families in this country who don’t teach or have never been taught the same things my parents taught me.
Today, I will be explaining why I am against family vloggers.
The reason why I am against family vloggers is because the parents film every second of their child’s life. From the moment they are born, they have a camera shoved in their face. This infiltrates a child’s privacy, and as they are too young to make a decision for themselves, I find it inhumane. What bothers me too, is that these parents make money off of their children. Putting your children on the internet is a very unsafe thing to do. Take for example, paedophiles. I have done some research on the family vlog account De Bellinga’s and what I found shocked me. On YouTube, there is a system where the viewer can see in a video what part of that video gets watched or re-watched the most. This is shown by the form of a graph. Every time a child is seen in swim clothing, or any other revealing kids clothes, the watch bar graph spikes up. Which shows people have been watching these revealed clothed children over and over again. You never know who might be watching these videos.
I think it is horrible that the Bellinga’s and so many other family vloggers are filming their child from the moment they come out of the womb, and eventually making them believe this is the only way for them to live their life. Whilst they get a camera in the face, the parents are behind it realising how much money they could make off of their next child. I would like to see how the kids are getting freedom from their parents vlog channel. To see the parents quit the channel and getting proper jobs to provide for their family without the use of child labour. It is important that this happens as these children may get in dangerous situations with fans and other people with bad intentions. The Bellinga’s might respond to all the concern by saying their children agreed with the filming, but I’m not convinced a 11 year old, 9 year old, 6 year old and 3 year old child will be old enough to decide for themselves.
Even if they are a child, and cannot decide for themselves yet, do not film them and post it online without knowing the child is okay with this. Instead, make a photo album, save the pictures on your own phone. Leave the kids off of the internet. Let the kids be kids.
